Proportionally controlled linear power assist device for artificial arms.

چکیده
A new prosthetic add-on device is being developed which promises to provide an economical means of adding power assist to a patient's existing conventional cable-operated prosthesis. Only minor modifications by a prosthetist would be required. Patients wearing conventional cable-operated above-elbow prostheses, who lack adequate function because they cannot generate the necessary cable excursion, are expected to dramatically improve their performance with little or no retraining. The proposed system will operate at speeds comparable to those of a conventional cable-operated prosthesis. The system will retain considerable function even if there is no power assist, and it will imporve the quality of the sensory feedback normally associated with a conventional cable-operated body powered prosthesis.

Design an Equivalent Left Ventricular Assist Device for Medical Equipment Labs
LVAD is a mechanical pump supporting a weak heart function and blood flow. Sometimes, the heart may not recover fast enough to take over the pumping action immediately after surgery, in such patients a temporary support device has been employed to maintain the pumping action until the patient’s own heart recovers. This device can be considered as a temporary alternative before the process of ar...
متن کاملImprovement of Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) in Artificial Heart Using Particle Swarm Optimization
In this approach, the Left ventricular assist pump for patients with left ventricular failure isused. The failure of the left ventricle is the most common heart disease during these days. Inthis article, a State feedback controller method is used to optimize the efficiency of a samplingpump current. Particle Swarm Algorithm, which is a set of rules to update the position andvelocity, is applied...
متن کاملESTIMATION OF GAS HOLDUP AND INPUT POWER IN FROTH FLOTATION USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK
Multivariable regression and artificial neural network procedures were used to modeling of the input power and gas holdup of flotation. The stepwise nonlinear equations have shown greater accuracy than linear ones where they can predict input power, and gas holdup with the correlation coefficients of 0.79 thereby 0.51 in the linear, and R2=0.88 versus 0.52 in the non linear, respectively. ...
متن کاملControl Based on the Modification of the Relation between the Reaction Force and the Human Force and its Effects on the Weight Perception
With the evolution of the family structure and the increasing longevity, our society is relying more and more on power assist devices. Since these devices are meant to work in cooperation with the user, considering only the characteristics of the device is not enough, the human response must also be taken into account. However, the weight perception is commonly affected by illusions, like the C...

In the coming advanced age society, an innovative technology to assist the activities of daily living of elderly and disabled people and the heavy work in nursing is desired. To develop such a technology, an actuator safe and friendly for human is required. It should be small, lightweight and has to provide a proper softness. We call such an actuator soft actuator. A pneumatic rubber artificial...
